As a West Coast leader in pepper production our peppers are our pride and joy—always flavorful and always fresh. The pepper category includes both sweet and hot peppers.

Our sweet peppers collection encompass a wide variety of mild peppers, including the most common, the bell pepper. Sweet pepper varieties also include mini-sweet peppers and baby bells which are special varieties grown for their shape and size. Hot peppers are the polar opposite of sweet peppers.

Hot Peppers, also called chile peppers, range in heat from mild to hot based on the amount of capsaicin that they contain (ranked according to the Scoville Scale). The heat of an individual pepper will be influenced however by climate, weather, growing conditions and of course, taster’s sensitivity.

Vegetables

As part of our rotational cropping program, we also grow a variety of vegetables including yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, hard squash, green beans, cauliflower and cucumbers.

Just like peppers, we also have a reputation for squash. Zucchini and yellow squash are considered “summer squash” even though they are available year-round. Hard squash, also known as “winter squash,” are low in calories and provide a good source of key vitamins.

Eggplant is often found near the squash and it has a unique taste and texture that has become a new favorite among cooks because of its versatility. In order to protect it’s delicate skin, Baloian Farms takes extra care when harvesting eggplant.

We take great pride in our specialized crop of flat sweet Italian red onions. In general, red onions can be hot, but sweet flat Italian onions tend to be sweeter than regular white or yellow onions, and are delicious when eaten raw, grilled or lightly cooked. In fact our red onion crop includes our regular sweet red onions, as well as our Sophia La Rosa heirloom red onions.

Our flat sweet Italian red onions have been a labor of love for more than three generations.

The sweet factor comes from our exclusive hand harvested heirloom seeds and the unique growing conditions in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. The perfect combination of unique soil, cool nights, hot days and of course tender loving care make this the sweetest red onion you’ll ever taste. Others have tried, but nothing compares.
